Job Description
The Senior Procurement Engineer will play a pivotal role in optimizing the procurement processes for construction projects, ensuring cost-effective and high-quality material sourcing while collaborating with cross-functional teams. This position requires strategic thinking, strong negotiation skills, and a deep understanding of the construction supply chain.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute procurement strategies to optimize costs and ensure material quality for construction projects.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and maintain strong relationships with vendors.
- Monitor and assess market trends to stay informed on pricing and material availability, adjusting procurement strategies accordingly.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineering teams to forecast material needs and ensure timely delivery to construction sites.
- Analyze procurement data and metrics to improve efficiency and drive cost savings initiatives.
- Review and approve purchase orders and contracts, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.
- Lead supplier performance evaluations and participate in supplier selection processes.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior procurement staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement within the construction industry, with a strong focus on supplier management.
- Proven ability to develop cost-saving strategies and effectively negotiate contracts.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis and market research.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with procurement software and ERP systems.
