Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Commercial Engineer to join our team in the construction industry. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in optimizing project profitability by managing commercial aspects of construction projects, ensuring adherence to budgetary and quality standards while developing strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough cost analysis and pricing strategies for construction projects.
- Prepare and present bid proposals, ensuring accuracy and competitive pricing.
- Manage commercial contracts and negotiations with clients and suppliers.
- Monitor project financials and provide regular reports on profitability and cost savings.
- Coordinate with project managers to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and process improvements.
- Participate in project meetings to provide expertise on commercial matters.
- Support risk management activities by identifying and mitigating potential financial risks.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of claims and variations to contracts.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a commercial role within the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, laws, and regulations.
- Proficient in cost estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Experience in managing relationships with clients and subcontractors.
