Job Description
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer to join our dynamic team in the construction industry. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, conducting risk assessments, and leading initiatives to promote a safety-first culture within our organization. Your expertise will help mitigate risks on construction sites and enhance the well-being of all employees and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures in compliance with legal requirements and industry standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards, assess risks, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Lead incident investigations, preparing detailed reports and recommendations to prevent reoccurrence of incidents.
- Deliver training and development programs for employees on health, safety, and environmental practices.
- Collaborate with management to develop and promote continuous improvement initiatives related to health, safety, and environmental performance.
- Maintain comprehensive records of safety inspections, incidents, and training programs, ensuring they meet regulatory and corporate standards.
- Act as the main point of contact for regulatory agencies, managing relationships with local, state, and federal authorities regarding health and safety matters.
- Prepare and present reports on health, safety, and environmental performance metrics to senior management.
- Advise project teams on HSE best practices, regulatory requirements, and risk mitigation strategies specific to construction activities.
- Stay current with industry trends, legal regulations, and best practices in health, safety, and environmental management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in HSE roles, specifically within the construction industry.
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations, environmental regulations, and industry standards (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risk and develop practical solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively leading and influencing teams.
- Proficient in preparing reports, conducting presentations, and delivering training sessions.
- Strong organizational skills with a detail-oriented approach to tasks and documentation.
- Certification in HSE-related fields (NEBOSH, IOSH, etc.) is highly desirable.
- Experience with safety management software and reporting tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in high-pressure environments.
