Job Description
The Transportation Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and timely delivery of materials and equipment necessary for construction projects. This position is responsible for managing transportation logistics, optimizing supply chain processes, and leading a team of transportation professionals to support our company's operational goals.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement transportation strategies to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Oversee the scheduling, routing, and staffing of all transportation-related activities.
- Coordinate with project managers and other stakeholders to understand transportation needs for various construction projects.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local transportation regulations and safety standards.
- Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers and negotiate contracts to optimize service levels and costs.
- Monitor transportation metrics, analyze performance data, and generate reports to support decision-making and continuous improvement efforts.
- Lead, mentor, and train the transportation team to foster a high-performance culture and achieve operational excellence.
- Conduct regular reviews of transportation processes to identify areas for improvement in cost, service, and safety.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation management, preferably in the construction industry.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
- Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, safety standards, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Experience with transportation management software and systems.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
