Job Description

The Packaging Assistant Manager supports the Packaging Manager in supervising daily packaging operations, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and productivity standards. The role acts as second-in-command within the department and ensures smooth shift operations and effective coordination between teams.

Responsibilities

·       Shift Supervision:
o  Oversee QC Section Heads and Specialists across shifts.
o  Ensure all QC checks are performed according to schedules.
 
·       Operational Supervision
o  Oversee daily packaging operations and ensure production targets are met per plan.
 
·       Shift Coordination
o  Supervise supervisors and operators during shifts to ensure workflow efficiency and minimal downtime.
 
·       Performance Monitoring
o  Track KPIs (OEE, waste, labor efficiency, downtime) and report deviations to Packaging Manager.
 
·       Continuous Improvement Support
o  Support implementation of Lean initiatives and process improvement projects within packaging lines.
 
·       Safety & Quality Compliance
o  Ensure adherence to safety rules, GMP, and food safety standards during operations.
 
·       Issue Escalation & Problem Solving
o  Identify operational issues and escalate critical matters while leading initial corrective actions.
 
·       Team Development
o  Assist in coaching supervisors and operators to improve technical skills and performance.
 
·       Coordination with Other Departments
Collaborate with Maintenance, Quality, and Planning teams to ensure smooth packaging execution.

Requirements

Ø Academic and Professional Qualifications
·      Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Production, or relevant field).
Ø Experience
·      Minimum 5–8 years of experience in manufacturing, preferably in food industry.
·      Experience in packaging operations is required.
Ø Skills and Competencies
·      Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
·      Knowledge of Lean tools, OEE, and production KPIs.
·      Understanding of food safety and quality standards.
·      Good analytical and reporting skills.
·      Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
